Join us for a Tribute Run “Road of Life and Death”
In commemoration of the Day of Defenders of Freedom the Consulate General of Lithuania in New York kindly invites you to join a tribute run “Road of Life and Death” on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at 12.30pm. The tribute run will start at the Globe at the Columbus Circle. Participants will be able to choose the distance of 2.5 km, 5 km, 7.5 km running through the Central Park.
The Day of Defenders of Freedom commemorates the tragic events of January 13, 1991 in Vilnius, Lithuania, when Soviet tanks killed 14 and injured around 1000 unarmed civilians who stood tall defending the Lithuanian Parliament and the TV tower. The defenders became the symbol of unity of the people of Lithuania and of victory in fight for freedom.
