LITHUANIA ASSUMES PRESIDENCY OF THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL
On 1 February 2014 Lithuania assumes the Presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of February. During its Presidency Lithuania will focus on the protection of civilians in conflict situations and the rule of law. The Council will hold two debates respectively on 12 and 19 February.
In February the Council will hear the briefing by the the Swiss Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE, will hold the debate on UNMIK. Syria, Sudan, South Sudan, Burundi, Middle East, Guinea Bissau, CAR are expected to be discussed.
