LITHUANIAN MILITARY OBSERVER ARRIVES TO SYRIA

Lithuanian military observer has arived to Syria, where he will be part of the United Nations Supervision Mission (UNSMIS). The aim of UNSMIS is to observe the termination of armed hostilities and the implementation of the "six-point peace plan" proposed by the Joint Special Envoy of the UN and the League of Arab States on the Syrian crisis Kofi Annan.

The plan foresees a ceasefire between the Government of Syria and the insurgents, release of detainees, rendering assistance, and endorsement of the right to protest.
