MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PARTICIPATES IN THE ANNUAL UN TREATY EVENT
Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis participated in this year's UN Treaty Event, focused on the strengthening of the rule of law.
During the ceremony, held on 26 September, the Minister deposited with the UN Secretary General instruments, confirming recognition as compulsory the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice, in accordance with Article 36, paragraph 4, of the Statute of the International Court of Justice, as well as accession to the following three multilateral treaties:
i) Optional Protocol to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, concerning the Compulsory Settlement of Disputes;
ii) Optional Protocol to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations concerning the Compulsory Settlement of Disputes;
iii) Protocol on the privileges and immunities of the International Seabed Authority.
