PERSONNEL OF THE LITHUANIAN AIR FORCE TO BE DEPLOYED TO THE MISSION IN THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
On April 2 Spartan C-27 J transport aircraft of the Lithuanian Air Force with a crew of ten will be formally deployed to the mission in the Central African Republic from the Lithuanian Air Force Base in Šiauliai. When deployed, the Lithuanian military will be rendering logistic support to the French-led operation Sangaris aimed at stabilising the situation in the CAR.
At the ceremony the troops will be farewelled by Vice Minister of National Defence Marijus Velička, Commander of the Lithuanian Air Force Major General Edvardas Mažeikis, and Chief of the Joint Staff Brigadier General Vilmantas Tamošaitis.
Lithuanians will be transporting cargo and personnel of the one-month operation but will not be involved in combat actions.
The Lithuanian crew and aircraft service personnel will be conducting flights with Spartan C-27J to the Central African Republic from their main base of deployment, N'Djamena International Airport in the Republic of Chad.
