Professor Dalia Leinartė - Lithuania's candidate to CEDAW
The Government of the Republic of Lithuania has submitted the candidature of Professor Dalia Leinartė for re-election to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) for the term 2017 – 2020, at the elections to be held on June 21, 2016 in New York. Currently Vice-Chairperson of the Committee, Prof. Leinartė has wide experience in matters relating to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. For more than 20 years her academic and public activity has been closely related to the implementation of gender equality and the promotion of women’s rights. Prof. Leinartė has been actively engaged in coordinating national and international projects against gender stereotypes, trafficking in women, and women’s sexual abuse. Given Prof. Leinartė‘s expertise and contribution to CEDAW, the Government of Lithuania is confident that her continued engagement at the level of the Committee shall contribute invaluably to the success of the Convention.
