Lithuania to host informal meeting of the members of the Security Council on situation in Crimea, Ukraine

Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the United Nations organizes an informal meeting of the members of the Security Council (in Arria formula) on the situation in Crimea, Ukraine. The aim of the meeting is to provide an opportunity to hear firsthand account and perspectives on the human rights situation, media freedom, the situation of national minorities as well as on the developments in Crimea and eastern regions of Ukraine; to discuss the role the international community, including the United Nations and UN Security Council, Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and others can play in the current context.

Two guest speakers will address the audience: Mr. Mustafa Dzhemilev, the Crimean Tatar community leader; and Mr. Andriy Zubariev, representative of the Crimean Human Rights Field Mission.

The meeting will take place on March 19 at 3pm in Conference Room 2. All UN member states and observers are welcome to attend the meeting.
